Lake Host Program

An ounce of prevention...

The Lake Host program is designed to prevent invasive species from degrading our water quality. It involves volunteers conducting courtesy boat inspections to prevent the spread of harmful plants and animals, such as milfoil and Asian Clams, from one body of water to another. Invasive species infestations make boating and swimming hazardous, impact the lake’s ecosystem, and reduce property values. Once invasive species are introduced, they are impossible to completely eradicate and prohibitively expensive to control.

The LSA participates in the NH Lakes Association Lake Host Program and receives an annual grant to implement this great program that keeps boaters’ awareness of this important issue in the forefront. The smooth operation and success of our program depends upon volunteers. We are always in need of volunteers to help keep Lake Skatutakee free of invasive species. All you have to do is complete a short training session and then sign up for two-hour shifts throughout boating season–Memorial Day to Labor Day weekends.
