Our Mission

Lake Skatutakee Association was formed in 1954 to steward the health of Lake Skatutakee and is committed to preserving the highest quality of life for the lake, its inhabitants, and property owners.

Part of the Merrimack River watershed, Lake Skatutakee is a natural lake raised by the damming of Nubanusit Brook. It covers 236 acres and sits at an elevation of 1,202 feet. 85% of Lake Skatutakee varies in depth between 10 and 17 feet. It is fourth and lowest in a chain of water bodies that starts in Nelson and Hancock. The first is Spoonwood Pond, which is spring and brook fed; the second is Lake Nubanusit, the largest and deepest of the four, receiving all of Spoonwood’s discharge as well as being brook and spring fed; Harrisville Pond is the third and is fed by discharge from Nubanusit, Shadrack, Tenny, and Tolman Ponds.

Lake Skatutakee’s water level is affected by the discharge of all of these bodies of water and is controlled by a dam which is owned, operated, and maintained by LSA volunteers.
